Verizon Wireless representatives have confirmed to PhoneNews.com that the forthcoming iPhone will only be available on month-to-month service plans as well as the standard two year agreement. There will not, however, be any options for either prepaid usage or 1 year agreement pricing. This is on the heels of last Friday’s confirmation of availability for iPhone 4 on month-to-month service.
Purchases on month to month service plans require the purchase of an iPhone at full retail price, which is set at $649.99 for the 16 GB version and $749.99 for the 32GB version.
In related news, general pre-orders for the Verizon iPhone outside of tonight’s limited pre-order window for current customers start on February 9th via Verizon Wireless online and the online Apple Store. Verizon Wireless retail and Apple Stores are also opening at 7AM on the 10th in order to accommodate pre-orders and new customers as well as select third-party dealers and via 800 number.
Just curious,
1. Does VZW unlock the iPhone upon request…following the full retail purchase?
2.VZW CDMA utilizes same as SPRINT CDMA wave lenghts, hence theoretically portability should not be an issue, however, due to SPRINT’s new policy, a $10 premium would be added to no matter which plan one is using, that being the case when ESN is changed, i.e in case of “Fair & Flexible” and other legacy plans. Could Phonenews kindly inquire on this matter, that being on behalf of the consumers & shed some light of “facts” on this potential consideration? Thank You
Those handset prices are ridiculous! The use of an iPhone cannot seriously justify such a massive price tag. Especially if compared to an MVNO, that uses the same network, where the most expensive smart phone is $330, and the monthly cost of having unlimited voice, text, and data is only $45. Give me straight talk everyday thank you.
