Following weeks of leaks, the first carrier-branded press renders for the forthcoming Nexus 5 have surfaced from Canadian site MobileSyrup. The renders appear to come from Canadian carrier Telus and appear to verify previous leaks. The Nexus 5 will feature the following specifications:
- 4.95″ 1080p display
- 16GB/32GB internal storage depending on model
- 2GB RAM
- Snapdragon 800 at 2.3GHz
- 8MP OIS rear camera, 1.3MP front camera
- 2300mAh battery
- Sensors: Accelerometer, Gyroscope, Compass, Proximity/Ambient Light, Pressure
- Micro SIM slot
- Notification light
- Wireless charging
- NFC
The Nexus 5, like the 4 before it is heavily modified from an already commercially available flagship, in this case the G2. The phone is expected to be announced late this month after weeks of initial speculation pegged the official introduction to mid-October and have not panned out. The renders also confirm the new stock launcher that will debut with Android 4.4 KitKat and is being referred to as the Google Experience, which makes heavy use of transparencies and flat icon design choices as well as Google Hangouts replacing the previous default messaging client in a bid to cut down on the myriad of messaging apps and usage of private APIs.
Update: Google has surreptitiously posted the Nexus 5 on Google Play with a $349 starting price. The first official press shot follows below:
