To celebrate the launch of its latest device in the ZTE MAX large display phablet, Boost Mobile has launched a limited-time $35 monthly plan which includes data access and is aimed at pushing LTE smartphone sales.
Everyone who purchases an LTE smartphone from now until March 31st and activates it with the $35 plan will pay that rate for 6 months, which equals a $120 savings according to Sprint/Boost Mobile. However, the plan does qualify for the Boost Shrinkage program and at the end of the sixth month of service, the rate plan changes to the standard $55 Monthly Unlimited Plan and restarts the Shrinkage timeline, despite cutting $5 from the plan price for having service for the first six months.
This means that Sprint is essentially giving new customers that buy an LTE smartphone a monthly unlimited plan at better than full Shrinkage rates for 6 months, but will take away the benefit in the hope that they will stay and pay more to stay with the brand, something which will no doubt annoy those that do decide to take advantage of the promotion.
Additionally, Boost Mobile is offering new customers a $30 account credit for brand new customers that start service, and it can be combined with the promotion for additional savings. The following phones qualify for both promotions:
