Best Buy has launched the long-awaited Motorola i1 on Boost Mobile after months of anticipation following its initial announcement as CES earlier this year.
The i1 features a heavily customized hybrid version of Android which combines the 1.5 kernel with features found in the latest release in 2.2 in order to allow for push to talk support along with other major features.
Specifications consist of a 3.1 inch HVGA resolution capacitive touch display, Wi-Fi radio for access to the Android Market, Bluetooth with stereo audio support, microSDHC expansion slot, speakerphone and a 5.0 megapixel camera with autofocus, flash and video capture.
Pricing is set at $399.99, with the Sprint version set to launch on July 25 via Telesales and August 8th via retail channels.
I am glad i already bought this phone and loving it too…..I bought it for 349.00 and now it is costing 399.00…sure gald I bought it when it was cheaper…..I wonder why now with the price increase?
why boost before sprint? there is so much more opportunity with Sprint!
As has been discussed before, Sprint only wants to encourage prepaid customers to use iDEN at this point. Sprint will keep offering Nextel as an under-the-table/low-promotion entity, but it will mostly be for fleet/corporate customers.
Sprint knows at some point those Nextel customers will have to switch to CDMA, there isn’t any chance of a federal or public safety network, so in a few years iDEN will likely have to be dismantled.
I am a BOOST MOBILE DEALER AND I MUST SAY THE I1 IS THE BEST EVEN @ 399.99 IT’S GREAT TO HAVE AN ANDRIOD PHONE WITH OUT THE HIGH COST OF MOST OTHER CELLULAR COMPANY CHARGE FOR SERVICE!
even if I wasn’t a dealer I would buy this phone for myself
