AT&T has officially rolled out Android Jelly Bean for the mid-range LG Escape and Samsung Skyrocket II. The update is available over Wi-Fi for the Escape and desktop updater for the Skyrocket II.
The updates include all of the key improvements to Jelly Bean including Google Now, improved Voice Search, Project Butter input enhancements as well as improvements to widgets. Both phones will also get access to AT&T Locker, which securely stores photos, videos and documents in the cloud that can be accessed from a smartphone or computer.
Additionally, along with the Jelly Bean update, customers will gain access to AT&T DriveMode®, an app designed to limit texting while driving.
DriveMode can be set up to automatically reply to incoming texts, emails, and wireless callers once your car reaches 25 mph, letting friends and family know that you are driving and unable to respond.
The Skyrocket II update also adds the following features backported from the Galaxy S III:
- Smart Stay: Tracks eye movement to ensure the device screen is always on while it’s viewed so the backlight doesn’t dim or become idle
- Direct Call: Converts text message interface to the voice call interface by simply raising the phone to the ear
- Pop Up Play: Allows users to watch video content while operating any application at the same time
