AT&T has officially confirmed the forthcoming launch of the Motorola Backflip, which will be the carrier’s first Android device when it launches on the carrier later in the first quarter.
The device was previously leaked with AT&T branding last year ahead of its expected debut this year and is expected to launch with both Android Market and Motorola’s own application store.
The device will feature a unique horizontal flip form factor with a QWERTY keyboard, Android 1.5 with the MOTOBLUR user interface, 3.5mm headphone jack, Wi-Fi radio, Bluetooth with stereo audio support, microSDHC expansion slot and 5.0 megapixel camera with video recorder.
As previously mentioned, the Backflip will initially launch with Android 1.5, but will be upgraded to version 2.1 inline with other Motorola Android devices later this year.
