AT&T has announced an option for iPhone owners that wish to travel abroad without incurring potentially expensive fees for accessing data outside of the AT&T network.
For an additional $24.99, interested customers can add 20 MB of international data roaming on top of their service plan and use it at will without any contract extension or additional monthly fees, with the charges being prorated according to how much data was used as well as an overage rate of $.05.
There is also a $59.99 option which offers 50 MB of data roaming with the only caveat being this plan only covers the 29 countries that AT&T has standing roaming agreements in place, otherwise data access is charged at the more expensive $0.10 per kilobyte rate.
In specific countries the rate jumps even higher to $0.0195 per kilobyte.
