AT&T today added a new variant of the venerable Motorola RAZR V3 to their prepaid lineup. Now, the RAZR will be sold in both the existing blue, and now red colors.
The saga of the Red RAZR V3 is surprisingly long. Initially, Motorola intended to offer a Red RAZR, only to realize that they had promised Sprint an exclusive on the color, via Sprint’s temporary partnership with PRODUCT RED for the Motorola V3m. This caused AT&T’s RAZR V3i to be titled “Fire Red” as opposed to the standard red color.
Now that Sprint has discontinued the RAZR, it appears that exclusivity has ended, and AT&T can now formally sell a Red RAZR. The Red RAZR retails for the same price as the Blue RAZR on prepaid, for $139.99 without contract.
