One feature left out of the Mac OS X 10.4.7 system update’s release notes has Sprint users dialing up more than ever before. Previously, Apple only supported Verizon EV-DO connection cards, forcing Sprint users to hack the Apple support in order to extend to Sprint cards. This process was difficult, as it required editing files and was unsupported by both Apple and Sprint.
Now, the 10.4.7 Update enables the same support on Sprint Mobile Broadband cards. Sprint has posted a PDF connection guide. This support also extends to older PCS Vision data card users that have not yet upgraded to EV-DO aircards.
The process still does require Mac users to borrow a Windows PC to provision the card. Also, any available software updates for the aircard will have to be installed by a Windows PC. This support will extend to Sprint USB Mobile Broadband cards, and ExpressCard aircards to be released by the carrier later this year.Mac OS X 10.4.7 Update (PowerPC)
