Following up on our previous report regarding the forthcoming T-Mobile 3G WebConnect USB modem, new purchase details have surfaced thanks to leaked internal employee documents.
Initially, the modem was originally meant to be sold only to current customers with an existing agreement which meant that interested customers would have had to sign up for a voice line with a new agreement before being able to acquire the modem as a second dedicated data line. According to updated internal documents, the modem will now be available to both new and current customers, and include unlimited T-Mobile HotSpot access in the $59.99 monthly fee.
The featureset for the Huawei UMG181 is fixed at a retractable USB connector with an internal antenna while supporting dual-band GSM/EDGE and 3G HSPA access on 1700 Mhz, microSDHC expansion slot, built-in T-Mobile Connection Manager software for one step automatic install.
