The Jide Remix look like a shameless Surface doppelganger at first glance, but the tablet’s heavily customized Android build, which the manufacturer calls Remix, aims to make Android act like a desktop OS with a taskbar, file manager, and multiple window support, along with claimed full compatibility with all current Android apps.
The $399.99 tablet features a 11.6-inch 1080p display, a detachable magnetic keyboard, a built-in kickstand, and Remix OS. The tablet also features two 5-megapixel cameras, a quad-core Nvidia Tegra 4 processor at 1.8 GHz, 2GB of RAM, 64 GB of internal storage with microSD slot, and a 8100 mAh battery. Once a darling a of Kickstarter, the tablet is now available for general purchase on Amazon, and the tablet’s Remix OS will be updated to support Android Lollipop APIs through a future Remix 1.5 update.
