Apple has once again released the first-party Lightning Dock that was previously released alongside the iPhone 5/5C/5S, which were the first Apple smartphones to launch with the Lightning connector. Unlike the reporting in the wider tech media, this is not the first Lighting dock directly released by Apple for iPhones with the Lightning connector and the dock was likely released again due to the demand for a first-party dock for the iPhone 6/6 Plus. The Lightning Dock is available now from Apple for $39.99 and features an audio passthrough for either powered external speakers or headphones/earbuds with integrated remotes as well as the external connector for charging/sync.
