As expected over the past few weeks, T-Mobile’s latest UnCarrier event focused on small and medium sized businesses, with a particular focus on cutting the cost of multiple lines.
Under the new business plans, unlimited talk, text and 1GB of data for more than 20 business lines will pay $16 per line. Businesses with more than 100 lines will pay $15 per line and businesses with more than 1,000 lines will pay $10 per line. Add-ons include an additional 2GB per line of data for $10/line or unlimited data for $30 per line below 100 lines. Tablets can also be added to employee lines for an additional $10/line with 1GB of monthly data.
Key features of the standard UnCarrier for Business service plan besides the unlimited voice, messaging and 1GB of data include no long-term agreements, elimination of overages, unlimited global data roaming, in-flight messaging, Wi-Fi calling, JUMP! early upgrade program eligibility and Data Stash eligibility for those lines not on unlimited data.
Employees of businesses with lines under the new “UnCarrier for Business” plans will also be able to add family members and save up to 50% compared to AT&T and Verizon under a new program called “Business Family Discounts”, where the employee line will be counted as the first line in a Simple Choice Family plan and allow families to piggyback on the employee line, with claimed savings of $876 over AT&T and Verizon for just two lines.
For those businesses that feature more lines where the cost of adding unlimited data to each line would be less than ideal, T-Mobile has also announced a new slate of shared data options that start at $4.75/GB with a 100GB minimum purchase ($475 monthly minimum), $4.50/GB with a 500GB minimum purchase ($2250 monthly minimum) and $4.25/GB with a 1 terabyte minimum purchase ($4250 monthly minimum) required. The shared data options also include throttled data access with no overages past the data allotments and are compatible with Data Stash, which could lead to additional savings and convenience for small and medium businesses.
T-Mobile is also giving small and medium-sized businesses access to the tools to do business, through a new partnership with GoDaddy. T-Mobile will be offering a free .com domain and website, optimized for mobile viewing to business customers with at least one line with additional paid data access such as the 2GB monthly add-on, unlimited data or shared data pools. The new business benefits program also includes free custom .com email addresses powered by Microsoft Office 365, which includes one business email for every T-Mobile business line with additional paid data access.
