Apple has officially released iPhone software version 1.1.2. The update makes various bug fixes, and is now available on iTunes for updating. The update had leaked onto Apple’s servers as a restore images late last week. It also brings the United States version of iPhone in-sync with the software version shipping in European iPhone units.
iPhone firmware 1.1.2 will, once again, disable third-party applications, and the jailbreak process. An update for Installer.app is currently being worked on for firmware 1.1.1, which upon installation, will allow third-party applications to work properly after updating to 1.1.2. However, it is important to note that users running 1.1.2 will have to downgrade to 1.1.1 before enabling third-party software again.
Probably the most noticeable addition to this update, is that iTunes will now display the charging status of the iPhone when it is connected, as pictured above. Apple has committed to enabling official support for third-party applications in the February 2008 update. A counterpart update to iPhone firmware 1.1.2 is now available for the iPod touch.
