Google has unveiled the next major Android update for the operating system and has engaged in a bit of product placement simultaneously. Previously rumored to go under the codename of Key Lime Pie on its eventual release, the next update following Jelly Bean will now be known as Android 4.4 KitKat™ .
This development is also being followed by a new giveaway campaign for a new Nexus 7 and $5 Google Play Store credit as prizes to celebrate the reveal for the new codename with purchases of KitKat bars in the US. More details on the operating system itself are expected in the coming days and weeks.
Update: The KitKat YouTube channel has uploaded a companion parody ad for the Android 4.4 announcement and is embedded below. Finally, Nestle will indeed be making Android mascot-shaped KitKat bars, as evidenced by the official images disseminated by the company earlier today on its Flickr account.
It’s amazing how Kit Kat can go from those terrible mastication commercials (I said mastication… mastication) to such a brilliant co-branding campaign is such a short time.
It will be more sweeter than the Jelly Beans according to Google, I am also thinking to have a break 😀
