Verizon has announced the forthcoming launch of the Pantech Perception for Thursday April 25th, for $149.99 after new 2 year agreement before an additional $50 mail-in rebate, bringing the total to $99.99 after. The biggest feature that Pantech is promoting with the Perception is Motion Sense, its own software/hardware implementation of contactless gesture controls.
Motion Sense will allow Perception owners to answer phone calls, scroll through the contacts app, flip through photo albums, or advance songs by waving their hand in front of the device, in an attempt to beat Samsung at its own game with Air Gesture, though it should be noted once again that Sony Ericsson had a similar feature on select Xperia smartphones in 2011.
Other features of the Pantech Perception include a 4.8-inch 720p HD Super AMOLED display; 8.0 megapixel main camera and 2.0 megapixel user-facing camera; 1.5GHz dual core processor with 1GB of RAM; LTE, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, Wi-Fi, mobile hotspot support and 16GB of on-board storage with no expansion slot. The Perception will ship with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, but will be updated to Android Jelly Bean 4.1 in the next few months.
All I want to know is when will T-Mobile land the high end Pantech phones.
