Rumored First Specs of Motorola “X Phone” Surface

After being heavily rumored for months as the first true collaboration between Google and Motorola Mobility following the latter’s purchase by the former, the first claimed specifications for the Motorola “X Phone” have surfaced along with the above slide, claimed to be the first image of the phone. The phone, known above as the Motorola NXT is said to feature the following specifications, according to Dutch site AndroidWorld.nl:

The phone is said to be equipped with a 4.7 inch 1080p display, with a 468ppi pixel density the same as the display on the HTC One. The phone will be powered by the quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 4i which is said to be as powerful as the current top line Qualcomm Snapdragon 800, but at half the physical size.

A 16 megapixel camera will be on the back and a front-facing 5.0 megapixel camera will also track eye movement to control scrolling on the screen, similar to the new eye-tracking feature that is said be featured on the Samsung Galaxy S IV. The dimensions, at 131.2 x 66.7 x 7.9 mm would make the phone slightly thinner than the current Motorola Droid flagship in the Droid RAZR MAXX HD.

With Motorola in the doldrums and facing even more job cuts in recent days, should the specifications for the Motorola NXT/X Phone pan out as they are currently set, the phone may be powerful enough to draw enthusiasts away from Samsung’s and HTC’s current flagships. It should be noted that the picture being circulated as the Motorola NXT (and heads this article) has been confirmed to be a mockup by the original source of the rumor and is based on the specifications given above.

The phone is expected to be announced during Google I/O later this Spring as the flagship device for the rollout of Android 5.0, also known as Key Lime Pie.
