Internal MetroPCS documentation has confirmed that the carrier will launch the LG Esteem high-end Android smartphone next week on September 29th, with the latest information suggesting that pricing will be set at $349.99 before an additional $50 mail-in rebate, bringing the total to $299.99, placing it inline with the current high-end model in the Samsung Galaxy Indulge.
Additionally, the launch of the Esteem will also coincide with the launch of the Rhapsody streaming music service, which will be included with select LTE service plans as well as being offered as an optional monthly service.
The LG Esteem features a  4.3 inch display, 1GHz Snapdragon processor, 512MB RAM, front facing camera, main camera of unknown resolution with flash, HDMI output, microSD slot, Android Gingerbread 2.3.4, 4GB internal memory (reduced from the 16GB internal of the Revolution), and WiFi hotspot support to be launched in October, which would make it the first Android smartphone on MetroPCS to support such functionality on an official basis.
This is great news. I’ve been looking to actually switch back to MetroPCS (switched to T-Mobile with a friend). Here in NYC, the coverage was great. I never had an issue with dropped calls. I even had service in elevators. (Heck, my phone – the Caliber – fell into a pool in Las Vegas, submerged for maybe half an hour and still survived!) I was hoping that MetroPCS would strengthen it’s Android and 4g lineup, and the Esteem seems to be exactly what the doctor ordered.
You may want check out this link which has some juicey details pulled from the LG website before it was removed. Apparently according to this info the internal memory has been changed to 8GB and the original 4GB was just for the test models. These details will leave you drooling. And they’re saying the phone will be around $249 after rebates. http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php/1734014-LG-Esteem-New-Information
