HP has posted a new blog post on its Next Bench blog, confirming that the conglomerate will manufacture one last run of TouchPad tablets following the unexpected success of the firesale two weekends ago following the initial announcement that HP would discontinue dedicated webOS hardware. The last batch will be manufactured before the end of the fiscal 4Q period which ends for HP on October 31st. The last manufacturing run is meant to satisfy the pent up demand for the tablets as people rushed to order as many units as possible at the $99/$149 prices, which led to cancelled orders from third-party sellers and HP themselves.
The blog post also features a detailed FAQ on how HP will handle the last shipment in order to answer as many questions as possible before the last batch is released. HP is also offering a free six-pack of apps for new TouchPad owners until tomorrow, with more apps being offered next month while the QuickOffice app for the TouchPad has also been updated to the full version at no extra charge, courtesy of HP.
