Verizon this week has fully launched the Samsung A870, and the Nokia 6215i.
The Nokia 6215i is the first phone to launch on the CDMA side of Nokia since the failure of the planned partnership between Sanyo and Nokia. The 6215i is a Pantech-designed phone and does not carry any design or interface elements of a typical Nokia phone. Pantech refers to the model as the PN-315.
What is interesting about the Nokia 6215i is that it is almost identical to standard 1xRTT phones that Nokia was already able to produce unassisted, and marks the perceived end of internal phone design at Nokia CDMA. The basic VGA camera flip phone includes a speakerphone, and retails for $49.99 with new two-year agreement.The Samsung A870 is a basic, low-end handset with Bluetooth. The A870 is aimed at users who typically only need a basic feature set, but require Bluetooth for driving. With 1xRTT-only, and a VGA camera, the A870 retails for the same price as the Nokia 6215i, $49.99 with new two-year agreement.
