Apple today announced along with Cingular and Motorola the long-awaited ROKR music phone. The phone will autofill similar to the iPod Shuffle from any iTunes library via USB cable. The ROKR can hold 100 songs standard, and will pause for incoming calls when music is playing.
Absent from the ROKR announcement were mentions of a possible wireless iTunes Music Store that would allow purchase of songs without the desktop version of iTunes. It appears that those level of features will not be included with the ROKR on Cingular. Sprint and Verizon have stated that their music stores will be wireless from launch, supporting the ability to buy from the phone, then transfer back to the computer after purchase.
Apple will be releasing iTunes 5, with support for the ROKR, later today.
