ZTE continues its push to break out of the entry-level box it usually ends up in when selling handsets in the US by launching its second high-end phone directly in the US in the Nubia 5S Mini for $279.99 through Amazon, with shipping beginning next week on the 27th.
The phone features a Sharp-sourced 4.7-inch 720p HD IGZO display and is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor with an Adreno 305 GPU.
The phone is also equipped with a 13-megapixel main camera and advanced controls for focus, light metering, and white balance. The five-element f/2.2 lens is also protected by sapphire glass with three shooting modes: Fun, Auto, and Pro. The 5S mini also features a 5-megapixel front-facing camera that can capture 720p HD video. Other features include 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, and a memory card slot; Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, support for AT&T/T-Mobile LTE and a 2,000mAh battery.
ZTE has also announced the inclusion of a Premium Protection plan that will allow those that purchase the phone the option of paying an $80 deductible to repair the phone, should the phone be damaged in the first 18 months of ownership as an additional incentive to purchase the phone.
