The first image and specifications for a new high-end smartphone from ZTE for Sprint have leaked and the phone looks to shore up Sprint’s still nascent LTE smartphone lineup. The ZTE Flash is targeted for an October 14th release on the carrier and features the following specifications that will become increasingly common going forward:
-
Android 4.0
-
4.5″ HD IPS display (1280×720) with Gorilla Glass front
-
LTE
-
1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 CPU (MSM8960)
-
12.6MP main camera with LED flash and autofocus, 1.3 MP front
-
NFC support for Android Beam and mobile payment support
-
8GB storage + microSDXC card support
-
1GB RAM
-
Bluetooth 4.0
-
.38 inches (9.6mm) thick
- Custom ZTE overlay
Should the timeline prove correct, this would make the Flash the first high-end Android smartphone from ZTE to launch on Sprint, as the company is typically known for low-end and mid-range devices apart from mobile hotspots, which it frequently provides to the carrier outside of phones. The launch date also means that the carrier plans to push the phone frequently during holiday sales at the end of the year.
What remains to be seen is whether the phone will also be updated to Jelly Bean, as this will be ZTE’s first high-end smartphone on a US carrier and the manufacturer has even taken to relaunching previous models in its home market in China with Jelly Bean in order to capitalize on the new update.
