New information on Windows Mobile 7 has surfaced after weeks of rumors, deleted tweets and conjecture.
As expected, Microsoft will officially announce Windows Mobile 7 next month in Spain and is now targeted for launch during the holiday season of this year instead of 2011.
Contrary to the myriad of reports concerning the lack Windows Mobile 6.x application compatibility, Windows Mobile 7 will support legacy applications, most likely via emulation layer similar to Palm’s Classic app on webOS.
An SDK is expected to be launched in June with the goal of having enough applications available for the holiday season launch. Microsoft is also testing new input methods for the operating system involving gestures and proximity with no concrete plans.
