Virgin Mobile has partnered with Wal-Mart to offer a middle plan in the current Broadband2Go slate of prepaid mobile broadband service to slot between the $10 300MB plan and the overwhelmingly popular $40 unlimited access plan. As alluded to in the headline, the 1GB offering is only available by visiting a Wal-Mart location and unavailable elsewhere. The offering is compatible with the MiFi and the Ovation MC760 USB modem.
The new 1 GB plan will be offered for $20 per month. This is 33% less than the price of Sprint’s own ZTE Peel 1 GB data plan for iPod touch, which is $30/month and provides the same, MiFi-style coverage inside an iPod touch sleeve. The ZTE Peel is Sprint’s only no-contract data offering currently, and operates in a similar prepaid fashion to broadband2go on Virgin Mobile, which uses the same EV-DO Rev A network.
Can I get the 1GB plan if I already own my Virgin MiFi?
I just talked to CS and the lady didn’t know what I was talking about. Not a good sign. Hopefully someone here at Phone Scoop will be able to get a clear answer for us.
The Walmart here has even older virginmobile literature. No sign of the 1gb plan.
Has anyone seen this in the stores, or is this a rumor?
I finally found some information on it. The 1GB plan is only available if you’ve purchased your hardware from Walmart. Unfortunately, I bought mine a month earlier from Best Buy. Has anyone gotten this plan on a MiFi purchased earlier?
