Verizon Wireless has announced that they have completely updated their EV-DO data network to Revision A. The upgrade focuses on upload speed improvements, necessary for features such as Video Calling, but also helps with wireless broadband service in general. The upgrade also increases the maximum burst rate of the network to 3.1 megabits.
In usage though, Verizon says to expect the new speeds to reach generally between 600 kilobits to 1.4 megabits, and upload speeds will range from 500 to 800 kilobits. In contrast, EV-DO Rev 0 speeds were generally 300 to 500 kbps down, and 70 to 80 kbps up.
