Update: Sprint appears to have begun canceling these orders. Link still works.
In case you have been living under a rock (or just not browsing the forum), a forum member, Kurt, has figured out how to edit the HTML code on SprintPCS.com to remove the “temporarily sold out” button and turn it into an “order” button. The computer accepts the order, and goes as far as to charge your credit card.
However the phone is not ready for sale yet, and your order will be backordered.  Rebecca, apparently the only person that answers the phone at Sprint PCS Web Orders Department confirms that the T608 will be sold online (very good news).
You can place your own order at the web address below. Be advised that the code is being pulled from SprintPCS.com despite the URL, so there is no risk of identity theft.

And please check the forum for order status, rather than calling in. Flooding Rebecca with calls will not help.
