Following up on the changes made to GoSmart Mobile, T-Mobile has also made substantial changes to the Target-backed BrightSpot Mobile brand carried in many Target locations with T-Mobile coverage. The new plan slate can be found below:
Starting at the now discounted $30 rate for unlimited voice and messaging, BrightSpot has taken a page from the online and Wamart exclusive data-focused $30 plan by adding a new $35 monthly plan with 3GB of data and unlimited messaging with 300 minutes compared to the former’s 5GB of data and 100 voice minute allotment, making it slightly more compelling, while the $45 and $55 plans are now more defined in terms of full speed data access with 1GB and 3GB respectively while still including unlimited voice and messaging.
While these new plans are easier to digest and are designed to make them more compelling to Target customers looking to take advantage of the value-added perks included with BrightSpot, such as the gift card loyalty program, the fact that it does not include taxes and fees into its monthly rate plans makes them less compelling compared to other companies such as Cricket and T-Mobile-powered MetroPCS.
However, the simplification of the plan slate and the price reductions since launch does mean that BrightSpot has more opportunities than ever to succeed as a branded mobile service.
Good move by T-Mobile’s both MVNO. Now at least data hungry customer will be satisfied when they will find their plans at affordable price.
