T-Mobile has announced a further expansion of its 1900 MHz 3G rebanding project for official iPhone support, as well as unofficial support of AT&T 3G compatible devices.
The latest markets to launch the service include Phoenix, Mesa, and Tucson, AZ.; San Francisco, Modesto, Oakland, San Jose, and Stockton, CA; and Miami and Fort Lauderdale, FL. Current markets with 1900 MHz 3G support include Baltimore, Houston, Kansas City, Las Vegas, and Washington D.C.
T-Mobile is currently planning a 2013 launch for its 4G LTE network which will function on its AWS band previously used for its HSPA service and will focus its expansion of 1900 Mhz 3G access within the South and Midwest going forward, as the initial rebanding project focused almost exclusively on the coastal areas and took into account the heaviest areas for data use, with the goal of rebanding its entire native footprint ahead of the LTE launch.
