Following yesterday’s news that Verizon Wireless would not carry the Samsung Galaxy S II and would instead launch a different phone with similarities, the first image of the Sprint, T-Mobile and AT&T versions has been leaked ahead of next Monday’s scheduled press event in New York City (under threat from Hurricane Irene this weekend).
Based on the image, the variants of the Samsung Galaxy S II for each carrier are not radically changed from the reference international model currently available, save for the removal of the Apple-alike home button in favor of the default Android home row of keys. The phones are also expected to be similar to the current international model, save for minor additions and subtractions to suit each carrier, though more specific details will not be known until the press event.
The Samsung Galaxy S II as shipped in Europe and Asia features  a 4.27-inch display Super AMOLED plus display, dual-core 1GHz processor, GPS, Wi-Fi N and FM radio with RDS support. It also features an 8.0 megapixel camera with 1080p video capture, auto-focus and flash. The front facing camera is a 2.0 megapixel unit. DLNA for media sharing is also on board with a choice between 16GB or 32GB of onboard storage plus a microSD slot. The Galaxy S II will run Android 2.3 Gingerbread and includes a suite of Samsung specific software, such as TouchWiz, Social Hub, Media Hub, Readers Hub, and Game Hub.
