T-Mobile has announced a new slate of prepaid plans, beginning with unlimited talk, text, and 2GB of data access at 4G speeds for $60/month with unlimited access but will be throttled after 2GB. T-Mobile also rolled out their previously announced $30 monthly plan with 100 voice minutes, unlimited messaging and 5GB of data access, which will be an online exclusive through T-Mobile and exclusive to Wal-Mart retail stores.
T-Mobile also announced a new slate of Pay by the Day plans. Starting at $3 per day, T-Mobile pre-paid customers have access to unlimited talk, text, and 200MB of 4G data throttled after 200MB with overages at . For $2 per day, access includes unlimited talk, text, and 2G GSM/EDGE web access and at $1 per day, access to unlimited text with voice minutes at $0.10 each. All plans (with the exception of the $30 Monthly 4G plan) are available at T-Mobile retail locations as well as T-Mobile’s web site.
I wonder how T-Mobile’s $60 prepaid plan compares to Simple Mobile’s $60 prepaid plan? Anyone want to do a run down?
Really it boils down to throttling. T-Mobile’s new $60 plan is throttled from 2 GB onward.
Simple Mobile runs on the same network, and there are widespread reports that they are throttled from the get go as well – but possibly at a higher speed.
Also you have to keep in mind that Simple Mobile and others have a history of perma-banning high data users, T-Mobile is not likely to do that, even with a massive amount of throttled data (when you go over 2 GB).
In the end, T-Mobile’s plan seems to be a bit of a safer bet, especially for high data users likely to catch the ire of Simple Mobile.
