Sprint has announced some major changes to its 30-day trial period for new customers. Starting tomorrow on April 1, new customers who are in the first 30 days of the contract and wish to cancel will have all fees returned to them save for non service related costs, such as ringtone/game/app purchases.
That spans the device and activation fees, the early termination fee, a full refund for service plan monthly and daily charges, all associated taxes and all Sprint surcharges associated with the aforementioned charges. Previously, customers canceling in the first 30 days of a contract were subject to at least some fees, including a per diem rate for the number of days the service was used under the former . Sprint calls the change the Sprint Free Guarantee.
Free market at last for the U.S.consumer?!
Prediction:
The above policy, soon to be adopted as the new standard by the entire wireless industry.
2010, promises to be a very interesting year of choices for the consumers:
1.Policies such as the one sited above, are positive steps.
2.Hardware, i.e. SPRINT 4G EVO, 4th generation Apple iPhone & it at last becoming available outside of AT&T!
3. Software such as Android 2.1,picking up steam, while others i.e. MS 6.1/6.5/7.0 ? & WebOs will potentially fail.
Thank You
I’d like to see the end of contracts and subsidies.
Oh, but I LOVE subsidies. Especially tax-funded GOVERNMENT ones 🙂
hopefully this will bring more customers to Sprint, they have a great product and value proposition
