Sprint TV over the past couple of months has begun to expand its offerings of free content (to customers with Vision but no Sprint TV package). This is enabling Sprint to begin testing advertising-supported free content offerings on Sprint TV. Fox initially began offering limited versions of its FX show “Black. White.” without advertisements.
However, the Fox show “Unan1mous” is now being simulcasted in compressed form (what they call “mobicasts”) on Sprint TV with aadvertisements for companies such as Burger King. The ads will ultimately be injected into 3GPP content before, during, and after each show. Because of 3GPP’s limited nature on handsets, it does not support fast forwarding, leaving viewers forced to watch the ads.
