In an update to its support page, Sprint has quietly announced the retirement of the short-lived OneUp program after only four months of availability. Sprint OneUp was meant to be a response to T-Mobile’s own JUMP! early-upgrade program, with phone upgrades every year along with reduced monthlyrates for those who purchased equipment under the installment plan, as well as equipment financing replacing the standard service agreement with subsidy.
With the announcement and launch of the Sprint Framily plan last week, elements of the Sprint OneUp program were included in the new offering, such as yearly upgrades with trade-in and equipment financing, though the $15 monthly discount on service from the OneUp program has been eliminated, being replaced by the multiple line discounts for every line added to the Framily Plan with a minimum of 7 lines required to reach the highly touted $25 monthly base rate.
Adding additional data access per month now starts at $10 for 1GB and going up to $20 for unlimited data access per line with the $20 unlimited data option now including access to yearly device upgrades, rendering the old program moot. Those that are on Sprint OneUp will be able to keep the program benefits until the next devices upgrade, whereby a move to the Sprint Framily plan with unlimited data will be required to keep key privileges.
