Update: Sprint appears to have renewed their SSP license (or switched to a different one they already had purchased), and have also removed the SSP logo from the portions of the site it was inserted on.
In a bit of an embarrassment to Sprint’s web team, they have started to bolster the VeriSign logo on their online store… right when their VeriSign certificate expires.
VeriSign certificates both ensure secure transmission, and VeriSign’s Secure Site Program further secures that by having an independent site confirm the site you are visiting is authentic in nature.
Sprint’s status in VeriSign’s SSP expired at the end of March, around the same time the online store began to have the logo stamped at the bottom of the pages. Sprint’s web team was not available for comment (they seemed to have forgotten to give us their number). In their defense, Sprint does not have the SSP logo on most pages, the easiest way to find one is to look at their Terms & Conditions page.
