On September 20th Judge Quinn issued the final ruling ordering Sprint Nextel to cease operations of it’s Nextel iDEN Network in all iPCS territories. Previously Judge Quinn had thought about making Sprint Nextel divest itself of the Nextel Network in iPCS territories, but later acknowledged the severe complexity of doing so. As of September 20th Sprint Nextel has 180 days to cease operations of the Nextel iDEN Network in iPCS’s territories.
Sprint Nextel has announced they intend to appeal, and is seeking a stay of judgment in order to block the order while the appeal is pending.
