Sprint today announced a new Java-based email client for their phones. The application is designed to interface with a broad range of email services, including AOL, Yahoo, and Windows Live. The service also will connect to your POP3 or IMAP email server for accessing the vast majority of email providers.
The application also aims to be robust in sending and formatting email. The client can store drafts, provides folder views, and even push email via SMS (SMS rates do apply however). Sprint Mobile Email is a free download to supported Sprint PCS and Nextel phones, and Sprint will be adding support for more existing phones in the future.
