Sprint and Clearwire have repotedly restarted discussions on forming a joint venture with other companies such as Best Buy, Intel and Google to further plans for a nationwide WiMax network.
Talks were called off last year in the wake of CEO Gary Forsee being removed from his post, but with the recent entry of new CEO Dan Hesse and his more hands on approach to dealing with issues, speculation is high that the new talks will actually result in a deal that will please Sprint shareholders who have expressed concern with the scope and expense of the project at a time when Sprint is considered to have focused away from its core business. The network is currently being tested in Chicago and theWashington D.C/Baltimore area with a planned commercial launch now slated for April.
