For those owners of select Sony Xperia models that want an official way to flash new ROMs without having to resort to clunky builds and hacks, Sony Mobile has released new bootloaders for select Xperia models that officially allow for booting into recovery mode in order to install alternative ROMs and are sure to encourage more extensive ROM development.

Currently, the new bootloaders are limited to the Xperia T2 Ultra, Xperia T3, Xperia M2, and Xperia E3 with no word on more bootloader releases for newer models. The new bootloaders also require Sony Mobile’s flash tool offered on its developer portal as well, shown above.
