After being released earlier this year around the world, Sony Mobile has finally officially released the Xperia Z1 Compact in the US. Previously, the Z1 Compact while supporting the requisite US frequencies, was only available through importers without a US warranty.
The Xperia Z1 Compact has a smaller 4.3 inch display as opposed to the 5 inch display on the former Z1 flagship. In addition, the lowered resolution of 720 x 1280 on the smaller model contrasts against the higher 1080 x 1920 resolution found on the Sony Xperia Z1 and a smaller 2300mAh battery on the Xperia Z1 Compact while the Z1 uses a 3000mAh cell.
Both models otherwise share some key specifications such as the 20.7MP rear-facing camera, the quad-core 2.2GHz Snapdragon 800 processor, the Adreno 330 GPU, and the 2GB of RAM. Both phones also share the 16GB of native storage and the 64GB capacity microSD expansion slot. The phone is available for $549.99 from Sony’s online store.
This is the one I was hoping Verizon would get.
