Sony Mobile has announced two new Android devices, with one being a further refinement of the Xperia Tablet series and the other being a new model in the Xperia M midrange smartphone line with an octa-core Qualcomm processor.
The Xperia Z4 tablet features a 10.1-inch 2560×1600 resolution display, powered by the Snapdragon 810 processor with 2GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot with support for 128GB cards, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS support, 8.0 megapixel rear camera with 1080p video capture and a variant with LTE support.
Both the Wi-Fi only and LTE versions will be released in June with pricing to be determined. An optional Bluetooth keyboard (pictured above) for the tablet allows for complete tablet functionality with specific keys to dublicate select tablet functions and a touchpad in order to avoid using the touchscreen for input when using apps. Like the tablet, pricing for the keyboard has yet to be announced.
Following that, Sony Mobile has also announced the Xperia M4 Aqua. As can be deduced by the name, the phone is water-resistant and is the first mid-range smartphone from the manufacturer to feature the octa-core 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor with integrated 4G LTE support (market dependent) and 2GB RAM, running Android 5.0 Lollipop with up to two-day battery life when using Sony’s STAMINA power-saving mode. The phone will be released first internationally and no US carriers have announced plans to carry the phone.
Key features include a 5.0 megapixel front camera and a 13-megapixel main camera with an LED flash, either 8 or 16GB of internal storage depending on market and carrier, a 5-inch 720p HD touch display, microSD slot with support for up to 32GB cards, aGPS support, Bluetooth 4.1 and IP65/68 certifications for water and dust resistance.
