Sony Ericsson today announced that they have partnered with watch maker Fossil to create watches with built-in Bluetooth. Fossil is best known in the tech world for their Palm OS-based watches and MSN Direct smart watches.
Details were not released on product offerings beyond their names. Fossil will offer MobileWear watches under their Abacus brand and Fossil will introduce Caller ID watches.
Sony Ericsson will also re-brand Fossil’s watches. The MBW-100 is the first offering resulting from the partnership, as shown below. Like Fossil’s offerings, details on features and specifications were not immediately available.
Effectively, Sony Ericsson’s watch concept will remove the need to pull the phone out of the pocket, when combined with a Bluetooth headset. Caller ID-enabled watches can display information from an incoming caller, and OBEX allows for address book synchronization.Discuss In Our Forums
