Skyfire CEO Jeff Glueck has announced that the mobile browser developer has heretofore ceased all development work on the BlackBerry version of its web browser. He goes on to state that development was stopped due to what the company considers a poor and inconsistent development enviroment provided by RIM with fragmented, inconsistent APIs in their current form.
He has also announced that the company will focus on development of the Android version of Skyfire, with a vow to return to active BlackBerry development provided RIM’s forthcoming 6.0 release of its venerable operating system delivers on the manufacturer’s promises of improvements regarding application development.
BlackBerry OS 6.0 is expected to deliver a host of improvements to the aged platform, including a new WebKit-based browser owing to the acquisition of browser developer Torch Mobile last year.
Better than what happens when you completely remove native code from your platform. Oh, wait, one company is trying that right now…
who might it be? RIM?
For the uninformed, I was referring to Windows Phone 7 Series.
“Better than what happens when you completely remove native code from your platform. Oh, wait, one company is trying that right now…”
haha, awesome. My sentiments exactly. Maybe they will get the message when all of their most loyal customers buy an Android device this year.
Agree on that! Maybe after seeing that apple is continuing their copy and paste and will also have multitasking they will start making adjustments on windows 7 before it is released. As of now if everything stays the same for windows I will 95% sure be switching to android.
I know this is a blackberry thread but can’t help it. Sorry.
