Samsung will begin accepting pre-orders for the Galaxy Note 4 on Friday, September 19 and the device will begin shipping on October 17th in the US in a new announcement released earlier today. The Note 4 will be available in black and white, and will be carried by AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon, and U.S. Cellular. AT&T was the the first to announce launch and pricing details for the Note 4 and it will cost $34.42 per month under AT&T Next 18, $41.30 per month under AT&T Next 12, $299.99 with a two-year agreement, or $825.99 at full price. AT&T is also offering a $100 bill credit to new and existing customers who activate a new line of service with the Note 4.
Following AT&T’s announcement, Verizon announced its pricing and launch details by offering the Note 4 for $299 with a new 2 year contract and Verizon Edge installment pricing will also be available, with those details yet to be confirmed. T-Mobile will begin accepting pre-orders on September 24, and is pricing the phone for $0 down followed by $31.24 a month for 24 months, for at total of $749.76. T-Mobile has opened a registration page for customers that wish to be notified when pre-orders go live. Sprint and USCellular have yet to announce specific pricing and availability details for their release of the phone.
The Galaxy Note 4 is the fourth major update to the phablet series that Samsung pioneered all the way back in 2011 and features the requisite spec upgrades, with a 5.7-inch wide-aspect “Quad-HD” display at 2560 x 1440 pixels and the U.S. variant will use a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor at 2.7GHz each and 3GB of RAM with 32GB of internal storage and microSD card support up to 64GB.
Its main camera now captures at 16-megapixels and includes optical image stabilization, HDR, along with ultra HD video capture. The front-facing camera also goes up in resolution to 3.7 megapixels and has a wide aperture of f/1.9, which is rare for a smartphone camera. The phone will ship with Android 4.4 KitKat and will feature the latest version of Samsung’s TouchWiz user interface, which includes the expected S Health, S Voice and services common to Samsung phones. The included S Pen stylus has also been refined to provide a more natural feel to on-screen writing compared to previous versions, and carries over the tools and functions from the Note 3, such as Air Command, Image Clip, and Smart Select.
