The FCC has approved the successor to the venerable Samsung Ace dual-mode CDMA/GSM smartphone sold by Sprint.
The Samsung SPH-i350 is an evolution of the Ace design and features substantial improvements over the previous device such as EVDO Rev. A and single band HSPA data access, quadband GSM/EDGE access, Wi-Fi radio and Bluetooth with stereo audio support.
PhoneNews.com can confirm that the above device is the Ace II first revealed in March as part of Sprint’s internal roadmap and will also feature Windows Mobile 6.1. The device is also expected to feature a 3.0 megapixel camera with video recorder and autofocus with a release slated for later in the year.
I didn’t like the look of the original but this version seems sleek
I wonder if it will get a 3.5mm headphone jack…
it will be running win 6.5 I handled this device
To the person who said it runs win 6.5, can you tell us if it’s Windows mobile professional or standard?
Win 6.5 Professional the device does not look it but it is touch screen un like the Ace 1
win 6.5 Professional ! that’s sweet! Any idea on the release date!? I’ve been waiting for this phone forever!
Will ACE II look like the actual photo at the top or did they make any changes to the look of the phone.
Now that it has cleared when will it come out and how much will it cost?
It’s the original Ace on steroids. Faster processor, more memory, better carmera (3MP, orginal Ace has 1.3MP), faster data transfer (EVDO Rev a), Wifi, and better international coverage (4 GSM bands instead of just 2).
It will run Win Mobile Pro 6.1 instead of Standard. Win Mobile 6.5 is not out yet, Samsung/Sprint might offer an update to 6.5 once it becomes available.
None of the published specs mention a touch screen, this would make no sense since it still has a full keyboard like the original Ace.
Probably won’t have a standard Headset Jack.
I need it to cost no more than $150 after rebates
Tell us something we don’t already know, like the price and if any changes have been made to the look of the phone? Will the phone look like the one shown in the example above? I like the color scheme of the jack better, but that won’t keep me from getting the phone.
I have this phone for testing. This phone is aWesome. It will run windows mobile 6.5. No changes have been made to the design yet. This phone will release in october 2009.
Ibid, how is the speed of the phone? any lag? Does it have a 3.5mm headphone jack and FM radio? How does it compare to the blackberry tour and the treo pro?
