Rumors of 4 GB iPhone 3G for $99 Lack Substance

Last week, rumor blogs began reporting that Walmart would begin selling a $99 iPhone 3G, with 4 GB of storage. PhoneNews.com did not report at the time on those uncorroborated blog postings, as we were unable to obtain any independent confirmation of the rumor.

New information has surfaced that appears to dash the unfounded rumor. Apple rumor site MacRumors has posted a Walmart ad, scheduled for release at the end of the month. In it, the advertisement only makes mention of the existing iPhone 3G models, with no mention of a 4 GB iPhone 3G.
