As first announced in May, RIM has launched Windows Live Messenger for the BlackBerry family of smart devices, and in an interesting twist, the client does not use the data connection on the device but instead relies on the venerable push functionality that the company is known for.

The client is otherwise identical in functionality to the desktop versison such as group chats, custom status messages, chat logging, display picture support, emoticons, and even sending/receiving of pictures and files. The client is now available from RIM in multiple languages including Arabic, Chinese (China), Chinese (Taiwan), Czech, Dutch (Netherlands), English, German, Hebrew, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, and Turkish.
