Upstart VOIP-based virtual operator Republic Wireless has managed to make its $19 monthly hybrid cellular and Wi-Fi based wireless service one of the most compelling offers in the industry and is set to truly change perceptions with its latest move to make the cellular half of its service truly unlimited.
Previously at the launch of the service, Republic Wireless had set cellular access limitations of 150 text messages and 300 cellular minutes per week dependent on an arcane usage threshold. Now, service is being treated as truly unlimited during the beta period, until Republic Wireless can become profitable or until the venture proves to be unsustainable.
Currently, the service is not taking on anymore new users until the beginning of the year but will begin accepting new customers at that time.
At that time, you guy’s have to be our test dummies, come on get an account and report back you have 30 days if you want to return it! The only one person that has an account now is reporting that WIFI calling kinda sucks. Hopefully they sort it out.
In my case, I’ve tried to get an account ever since I started reporting on the story, but it’s proving to be pretty popular despite initial issues. My goal is to get in next year so I can offer a review.
Ah, I had a chance and wanted to see if it works before I buy. I did get my international text number though!
I would like to know how their mods effect the rest of the phone, I hope they can be rooted because the OV gets low on memory quickly, while having memory hogging apps that are useless. I’ve gotten to the point that I can’t add anything!
