With Qualcomm making a big push to expand its Snapdragon processor line beyond mobile devices, the chipset maker and developer looked to the smart TV market to find additional sales volume and prominently featured its first non-mobile Snapdragon chipset in the 802 during CES this year. That chipset featured 4K video processing and support for multitasking/apps powered by either custom platforms or Android. However, Qualcomm has announced that it will cancel production of the Snapdragon 802 and halt further development of that series of chipset, citing lower demand than expected in a new press release.
