Sprint has reiterated its commitment to WiMax by reaffirming its plans first revealed last year to sell dual-mode CDMA/WiMax phones and modems.
What has changed is the branding for the devices which will be sold under the Sprint 4G brand instead of the recently retired XOHM brand name as a part of a far reaching MVNO agreement with the new Clearwire and Clear service. Â With the new MVNO agreement, Sprint’s partners have the option to resell Sprint CDMA voice/data services as well as WiMax.
The modem is expected to launch this month to keep it inline with an aforementioned end of year release beginning in Baltimore.
HTC has a Wi Max handsets now, when this venture was announced a year plus ago all the phone manufacturers were listed as participants so I hope the jump off is big.
